Characters of Christmas Series

I have been thinking for awhile it could worth the time to flesh out some of the characters who play key roles in the birth of Jesus. Too often we short change their stories. I began with a clear plan in mind, to cover three individuals and one “group,” the shepherds. As I came up to the first character, Elizabeth, I saw that there really was a piece missing in the approach I had planned: hostility to the Christmas message.  Sadly, as much as I appreciate what the story of the shepherds brings to the Christmas message, Herod’s hostility to hearing there was a “new king in town” was just what I thought would round out the series.
