Finally caught up!

It seems like it has been a long time since I’ve been able to devote time to editing messages for posting and for writing myself in the blog. Hopefully now that I have gotten up-to-date on the messages and most of the administrative tasks that are on my plate, I’ll be able to focus more time in writing and reflecting here in the blog. It is WAY TOO EASY to be distracted by other things in life and miss some of the important things, hence, the current message series about being our best and setting priorities…

This week we took a look at ourselves as a way of more fully understanding what God has for us in the future, who we are and what gifts we bring to serve God. We used Antwone Fisher as a jumping off point to talk about examining oneself and knowing who we are…

How to use Wesley’s questions

I was praying about it this morning and while Wesley certainly hits up on some good questions (see the PDF below) you might have other questions that would be better to meditate on more regularly.  The helpful thing about Wesley’s questions is that they are vague enough to cover a variety of struggles, but maybe they are too general for some of us.  If you know that there is something you would like to work on in your walk, add another question or two to the list and pray about what question or set of questions you want to work on answering honestly on a regular basis as a way to examine yourself.  None of us are perfect, but each of us ought to strive to be the best we can be.  For some of us this list might be another tool to make reaching our best selves possible.  Alone it is just words on a paper, but through our reliance on God and our relationships with others, it becomes a means to challenge ourselves.  I hope you will take up the challenge, you are up to it.

Genesis 12:1-3.

I’ve always been struck by how God calls Abram (later renamed Abraham) to be a blessing to others and it seems natural in our quest to be the best we can be that we would turn our blessings outwards. Using a clip from The Ultimate Gift as a jumping off point, I explored the being our best by working to leave a legacy.
